This is Dave's "garden". Most people would call it a patch of crappy dirty underneath a stairwell with a large power box in the middle of it but to Dave it is his little patch of happiness. Last year we tried planting a vegetable garden. It turned out horrible. The tomatoes grew like crazy but all the crappy neighborhood kids picked them off when they were green and threw them around the yard and each other. Then they (the same crappy kids) STOLE our bell peppers, and the two strawberries that actually turned red enough to eat. Needless to say we have decided to forget the vegetables this year. They are not worth the effort. However, we did decide to try to plant bulbs last fall. Dave planted like forty daffodils and tulips. During the month of January and February all I heard was, "don't you think my plants should be coming up by now???" Finally in the month of March we saw some little plant "heads" poke through the dirt. Dave went out and bought a little hand rake to "fluff" up the dirt on top of them in an effort to make it easier for them to come through.

We bought Everly her own rake at the same time because we knew how much she likes to "help".

She helped Dad for a little while in the dirt but then took off into the grass patch to play with Buddy while he did his "evasive manuevers" like a dog on crack cocaine.
I love that she's wearing her PJ's and doesn't have shoes on...some things never change. :)
ReplyDeleteGive a man a patch of land, any land, and he can't keep his hands out of it. Looks like both Dave and Everly had fun. You will have to post a picture of the flowers when they come up.
